A Closer Look at My Therapeutic Approach
Every person's story is unique, which is why I believe therapy shouldn't follow a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from evidence-based therapies while remaining flexible and collaborative, tailoring each session to your individual needs, goals, and lived experiences.
Person-Centered Therapy
At the root of my work is the belief that meaningful healing and growth starts with an authentic connection.
Person-centered therapy encompasses a space that is judgment-free, where you can feel heard, respected, and accepted.
Together, we will explore your experiences with curiosity and compassion, allowing therapy to unfold at a pace that feels right for you.
Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)
Life often comes with a mix of unexpected events that can cause a flurry of difficult thoughts, feelings, emotions, and experiences that we often can’t control. Rather than trying to eliminate discomfort, ACT helps us develop flexibility so we can respond to life’s challenges in a way that aligns with our values.
Together, we will build individualized, practical tools that can be used in your daily life to navigate difficult challenges, while moving towards a life that feels meaningful and authentic.
Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
When difficult things happen to us in our lives, a part of us can feel stuck in that moment. This can show up in the present in ways that influence how we think, feel, and respond to the world around us.
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps our brain process the these experiences so that they become less emotionally distressing over time.
While EMDR does not influence or change past events, it can be helpful for concerns such as trauma, anxiety, distressing life experiences, negative self-beliefs, grief, and other experiences that continue to feel emotionally "stuck."
EMDR isn't about reliving painful memories or being pushed to talk about experiences before you're ready. Your sense of safety, choice, and readiness will guide every step of the process.
Somatic-Informed Therapy
Operating from the belief that our minds and body are deeply connected, somatic-informed therapy recognizes that our stress, trauma, and overwhelming experiences can be held within our body and our nervous system.
Somatic-informed therapy gently incorporates body awareness and grounding techniques to help you better understand your body's signals, build emotional regulation, and reconnect with yourself in a safe and supportive way.
Trauma-Informed Care
Trauma-informed care recognizes our difficult experiences as potential influences of the way we think, feel, relate to others and experience the world.
Using this approach, my hope is to support individuals in their unique healing journey, while holding space for safety, choice, collaboration, and autonomy.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice
I believe neurodiversity is a natural and valuable part of human diversity. Rather than focusing on changing who you are, therapy is centered on understanding your unique experiences, recognizing your strengths, and developing strategies that support your goals in ways that feel authentic to you. My practice is committed to creating an inclusive space where neurodivergent individuals feel understood, respected, and empowered.
What should you expect from therapy?
We will shift towards your goals at your own pace. This can look like standing still, taking baby steps, walking, or running towards change.
Honestly, sometimes, discomfort. It can feel very difficult to share our hardships, and process traumatic events.
Non-linear healing. Sometimes you may experience several ups and downs throughout the process, and that’s okay. We will honour your pace.
A collaborative relationship. I view clients as autonomous drivers of change, and will work together to develop goals that reflect what matters to you.
Individualized care that tailors therapy to suit your unique needs and goals.
A safe, compassionate space where you can share without fear of judgment.
